The London Room

The London Room
The exhibits here illustrate aspects of Cook’s London activities. There are contemporary prints of the places he was associated with, in particular Deptford and Greenwich. There is a reproduction of a portrait of Cook’s wife Elizabeth, which suggests she must have been a handsome and strong-minded character. She suffered many tragedies. Three of her children died in infancy, and her three remaining sons all died before her, two of them at sea.
