This the oldest part of the house, as Cook would have known it. The brick floor of the old kitchen has recently been discovered. This was the housekeeper Mary Prowd’s domain, who saved candles for the young Cook. It is furnished with pots, pans and cooking utensils according to the 1774 inventory
