Survival against the odds!

Learn about Captain Cook's awe-inspiring voyages

It all began here!

For ten years, Cook explored the unknown waters of the Pacific, South Atlantic and Arctic oceans.
Cook learnt his seaman's trade in Whitby. The Museum is in the 17th-century house where he lodged as an apprentice when not at sea.
