12.00pm - 4.00pm - Workshop – 18th CENTURY NAVIGATION
Learn how people navigated the seas over 200 years ago with no modern instruments. The quadrant was invented in the 1400s and used to measure latitude. Book into this workshop to make your own quadrant and other navigation activities.
Hourly sessions: 12.00pm, 1.00pm, 2.00pm and 3.00pm
Capacity: 6 places per session (one adult must accompany children).

A step-by-step lesson in automata, or kinetic art as it is also known.
We will be creating a nautical sea scene.

Create your own mini concertina book of healing plants in a matchbox. Learn about how certain plants can help heal some illnesses and choose which ones to go in your collection.

12.00pm - 4.00pm - Workshop – JOHN WEBBER – People of Prince William Sound in their canoes 1778.
John Webber was the official artist on Captain Cook’s third Pacific voyage, known for his drawings of landscapes and Indigenous peoples. To celebrate a new picture coming to the museum in 2026 (JOHN WEBBER – People of Prince William Sound in their canoes 1778), we are running a creative class. You can choose to make a canoe like this one or paint a picture.
