Gift Aid

The Gift Aid scheme allows charitable and non-profit organisations to reclaim the basic rate income tax from His Majesty's Revenue & Customs

This means that for every pound donated to charities, such as the Captain Cook Memorial Museum, an extra 25 pence can be claimed from HMRC.

This is a government contribution and incurs no cost or further action by the donor.

All administration of the scheme is carried out by the charity to which the donation is made.

Am I eligible to Gift Aid my donation?

Firstly, you must be a resident in the UK. (You also qualify if you are Crown servants or members of the UK armed forces serving overseas.) You must pay enough UK income tax and/or capital gains tax for each tax year (6 April - 5 April) that is at least equal to the amount of tax that all the charities that you donate to will reclaim on your gifts that tax year.

You must also provide Captain Cook Memorial Museum with a gift aid declaration.

This happens automatically when you donate to Captain Cook Memorial Museum using PayPal.
